Many adults have had some difficult visits to the dentist when they were children.  It is important to not project your fears onto your child.  Going to the dentist should be encouraged to be a positive event in your child's life.  Dr. Hand is very gentle and especially so with children.  He has had his own children and is now a grandfather.  He enjoys working with children and therefore it is a positive event for children in his caring hands.  It is usually better for parents to wait in the waiting room especially if you are nervous yourself.  A child's cleaning and checkup are very easy and there is no discomfort involved.  Fillings and other procedures are a little more involved but also very easy.  Dr.Hand and his staff are making every effort to create a new generation of patients who do not see a trip to the dentist as a traumatic event.
